Bygdsiljum is located in the northern Sweden county of Västerbotten, 55km south of Skellefteå and 65km north of Umeå. The village is situated at the outlet of the largest lake in Västerbotten and is surrounded by nature. The population of Bygdsiljum is approximately 350.
The village has everything you will need on a day to day basis. There is an ICA in the village that acts as the chemist, post office and off-license (weekly deliveries from Systembolaget), a café famous for homemade ice cream and mini golf, with impressive lake views and coming soon or maybe already here depending on when you are reading this, little boat houses on the lake that you will be able to rent out to spend a night or two.
Bygdsiljum is also home to Bygdsiljumsbacken, Sweden's largest coastal ski resort and is famous throughout the land as the first place that a Daffy was performed in Sweden. When the snow melts and the ground has some time to dry, the hill turns itself into a bike park for the summer months.
The village has a school for children up to 6th grade, day care for younger children and a church.
It's often also said that Bygdsiljum has more jobs than people and that it's always sunny. One of those is true. Some of the companies in Bygdsiljum include Holmen, Umesläp and BVS Rör.
